FERIA DE LOS PUEBLOS

Written by tel on May 3, 2008 – 11:25 pm -

Following on from my long ago post on the Easter festivities here in Fuengirola and the Costa del Sol Semana Santa (Holy Week), this is a brighter post about one of the year’s popular ferias to be held in Fuengirols and thats the feria de los pueblos.

Originally it was for the local pueblos to hold a stall or area to sell their local produce and play local music etc. But this has grown considerably into an international fair where many different countries as well as Spanish regions have individual areas to display their loacl food, drinks paly music and generally to have a good time.

This year ahs seen a bit of a worrying inclusion as they have decided to put up an Israeli stall next to a Palestinian stall. There have been jokes made that they should put a wall between the two, but so far things have gone as they are supposed to with everyone getting with each other and having a good time.

Which is what a fair, or feria should be all about. The feria, or fairground has been very busy with thousands of revellers enjoying the fun and entertainment that the local and international areas have put on for their visitors. All good fun
